Meet Dr. Sophie – Founder of Homebody Anatomy & Yoga Anatomy Educator
Clinical experience meets yogic wisdom—learn from a chiropractor, anatomy expert, and long-time yoga teacher
Sophie has always had a fascination with the human body, its innate intelligence and the human body’s own ability to maximise its function and heal itself.
Sophie is a registered Osteopath and practices from her clinic - The Homebody Clinic in Noosa, Queensland. Sophie graduated from RMIT University, Melbourne, with a Bachelor of Health Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Osteopathy), both with distinction.
Sophie has enjoyed treating patients throughout Australia, covering a wide range of conditions, as well as completing several work placements in a Sports Medicine hospital in Mumbai, and Goa, India.
Sophie is a qualified yoga instructor and anatomy teacher. She believes in the importance of having a personal physical practice as well as implementing movement-based exercises safely into her patient’s daily routines.
During her university studies Sophie began to regularly attend yoga classes, in search of some inner peace to balance the stressful years of university study. However, what Sophie found was so much more. After completing her degrees, Sophie then went on to complete her 200 Hour Teacher Training with Zenko Yoga (Sunshine Coast, Queensland) in hope to share her passion and pure joy with others. Sophie is trained in Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga.
Through teaching and practice, Sophie quickly found there to be evident gaps in the current teachings and knowledge of asanas and anatomy for yoga students and for already qualified teachers.
Having tutored and mentored osteopathic students at a university level, Sophie quickly developed a love for teaching. It is through both her passion for teaching as well as her realisation of the gaps in the current yoga teachings, that her enthusiasm for safe and thorough anatomy teaching has grown. This led Sophie to develop anatomy programs for yoga teachers which she has now been running online and in- person for many years for both 200hr and 500hr yoga teachers.
Sophies main passion and driving force is to access as many teachers and students as she can to help them create a safer more effective environment for their students, regardless of their presenting injuries, pain and or yoga capabilities. Because ultimately, no-one should not be able to have access to, and practice the gift that is yoga!
